1. They are smart. Very smart. It’s easy to teach them things (like DURING a clinic—not two weeks afterwards). And because they are a Welsh Cob, new things are their business. (My trainer LOVES this. He should know—he’s trained horses through Grand Prix.) 2. They are sensitive to their rider. Like a mind-meld. Seriously. [So, you need to be a thinking rider—not on auto-pilot and not uneducated in your discipline.] They appreciate and respond to subtle cues—seat and weight. Invisibly and smoothly. Like buttah. 3. Our cobs max about 15 hands. You can get on WITHOUT a stepladder. Riding a 20 meter circle feels...like a 20 meter circle!—not eight. And because of their size (which is not 16.2 or 17.1), you can ask them to bend around it. Easily. 4. Our cobs are a known-quantity. We own the foundation dam and her three daughters. We know the sires and grandsires on both sides: Nebo and Llanarth. Style and performance, respectively. This means they like to do things, with panache. Athletic things—like dressage—a LOT. 5. They are not perfect. This is a good thing because of all of the above. They like to learn and they would prefer to do it with you, their person. With a good coach or instructor, you can intelligently develop, ride, and compete on your own mount. You will feel like you have a real partner. And isn’t that why you started riding to begin with? 6. Two words: valiant grace. Our Welsh Cobs are bred and trained to fit the needs and goals of the Adult Amateur. Their size and eagerness to learn, combined with an agile athletic ability, will delight the rider who is ready to grow in his or her discipline. Our contact information is listed to the right of this text. We are located about 45 minutes northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana, just off of I-69, Exit 45 for Alexandria. We are just over an hour from either the Indianapolis or Dayton airport.
